The YPA Reception at Newham college saw us take on a complete re-modelling of an occupied college. The Internal refurbishment saw us produce temporary partitions to allow the college to continue with their summer recruitment yet enable us to completely strip out the desired area ready for the real work to commence. The soon to be reception received new soundproof partitioning to create a number of new rooms, new air conditioning cassettes and condensers along with heat recovery units all managed with a newly supplied and installed BMS system, as well as upgraded fire alarms, security and electrical services to enable to college to go about their day-to-day business with ease. New MF and grid ceilings were installed throughout the rooms and the large open plan reception area. The reception was kitted out with the latest technology turnstiles allowing the college greater control over the access to all areas on campus, as well as electronic sliding doors, a bespoke desk designed and built to suit the new space and new carpet, vinyl and barrier matting floor coverings. The reception required new structural openings including in the large curtain wall to allow for new access controlled automatic doors which lead out on the newly formed paved area, allowing the students to move to other areas of the college more freely once completed. The whole project was completed successfully within the short programme, this is testament to the great working relationship and communication channels built between the client and all the teams involved.
